Interim Uses for Vacant Lots

Baumgartner and Gray are developing “On the Fence” installation at the future Avalon Ballard and former Sunset Bowl site at 1400 N.W. Market St., which has sat vacant since the former bowling alley was torn down in January.

KING5 News reported on the Seattle’s Design Commissions competition and new uses for the vacant site on 15th and Ballard. “There are between 30 and 50 vacant lots around downtown Seattle and Ballard. They are spots where old buildings were torn down, but when the economy turned sour, plans for new construction were put on hold indefinitely:”
