Celebrate this momentous year for Syttende Mai at the Nordic Heritage Museum: 2014 marks the 200th celebration in Norway and the 125th year of celebrations in Seattle! Join us at the Museum before the parade for family-friendly activities, food, and free admission.

Syttende Mai or Norwegian Constitution Day  is a celebration of the day in 1814 when Norway’s constitution was signed in the town of Eidsvoll, Norway.

Sustainable Ballard

Ballard SeafoodFest — Truth, Justice, and the Ballard Way

Yulefest

Annual Yulefest gets an early jump on Christmas each November, with vendor booths, entertainers (such as the Danish folk dancers in the photo) and traditional Scandinavian food. Kids crafts, Scandinavian food and an appearance from Jultomte (you may know him as Santa) are all planned during the two-day festival. *from The Seattle Times Company

Blessing of the Fleet

Ballard First Lutheran Church has participated in this tradition for decades. The congregation and fishing community gather at the Fishermen’s Memorial Site at Fishermen’s Terminal in early March to bless the men and women who harvest the seas and pray for their safety.
